In 2012 we approached ArtPlay to create a workshop which engaged children with typography. The result was the Font Factory, a five day workshop where children created letterforms out of factory refuse. The letters were then photographed and put into our online collaborative ‘font’. Our week at ArtPlay resulted in over 1000 letters and the inspiration which can only come from the minds of children.
The letters created were playful, colourful, back to front, upside down, made out of bodies and hands, from different languages, line work, simple, busy and happy, ecstatic! Please take a moment to enjoy them for yourself, just use your keyboard to type and ‘mix it up’ to get new letters. Have fun! We did.
