We were given a great brief—key words—journey, maps, trains, books, typography and literature. From that point on, we knew that we wanted to make the design quite vernacular to the tour itself. It had to be relevant and reflective of the experience of getting on the trains, setting up the nomadic library and interacting with people and moving landscapes.
The design owes a lot to the incredible palette of shapes and colours of the nomadic library designed by Georgia Hutchison and Soumitri Varadarajan. Whereas the typographic aspect of the design are largely inspired by the typographic tendencies of railway timetables and paperback type setting—loads and loads of vertical line separators and justified type.
